Romania is situated in the south-east of Europe, in the northern part of the Balkan Peninsula, on the Lower Danube, bordered by the Black Sea. On the globe, Romania is situated in the northern hemisphere, at the intersection of the 45 north parallel (at an equal distance from the Equator and the North Pole). It is a medium sized country in terms of both area (with 237.500 sq.km it ranks 11th in Europe and 79th in the world) and population (22.500.000 inhabitants, the 8th place in Europe and 39th in the world). There are some other nationalities living in Romania: the most numerous are the Hungarians, Romas, Germans, Ukrainians, Turks, a.s.o. Romania has a temperate continental climate with Balkan, sea and oceanic influences.

There are local differences depending on the relief forms. Average annual rainfalls total 640 mm. Nature has been particularly generous with the Romanian land, the relief is characterized by variety, proportion and harmony and is distributed almost equally: mountains 31%, hills and tableland 33%, plains 36%. Romania can be considered as Carpathian, due to its geographical features, Danubian since the Danube flows on its territory for 1075km, and Pontic, due to the Black Sea. One of the most attractive regions of Romania is the Danube Delta, the most recent piece of land, the "Kingdom of water", including a rich fauna (over 300 varieties of birds and numerous species of fish). The Black Sea Littoral lies between Cape Midia and Vama Veche. The extremely favorable conditions for sunbathing and wave therapy of the Romanian Black Sea Coast, the hotels offering all the advantages of comfort and professionalism are waiting for you.
